Duties of Fire Police Personnel

1.      To regulate traffic at emergency and non-emergency situations, or public service events

2.      To protect firefighters performing their duties

3.      To protect the general public at the scene of emergencies

4.      To keep fire and vehicle accident areas clear for fire fighters performing duties

5.      To protect the equipment of the fire companies

6.      To enforce the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania relating to fire department activities - Fire Police personnel must take an oath of office, be sworn in by a Judge or Justice of the Peace and be registered with their locality. Fire Police have the authority to enforce the laws and make arrests.

7.      To cooperate with all regular police agencies, local and state

8.      To protect property at any emergency scene until Command releases Fire Police from duties and turns responsibilities to other authorities

9.      To assist the Chief Officers at all emergencies
