Logan Fire Company No. 1 -- Bellefonte -- Centre County -- Pennsylvania

Recruitment

The Logan Fire Company No. 1 has a rich history. As the current members continue with the

traditions, values, and the commitment of service to the Bellefonte Community and surrounding

townships, we are in need of more active volunteers.

Our organization, as other volunteer fire stations, is an organization of firefighters who have joined

forces to perform fire suppression and other related emergency and non-emergency services for

our local community and surrounding communities. When it comes to membership, we have different

categories. There are the active, in-active, life, special status, junior, and honorary, each very important

individually. According to the National Volunteer Fire Council, today, 73 percent of firefighters in the

United States are members of Volunteer Fire Departments, but the number of volunteers nationwide

 has been decreasing each year.

The term "volunteer" contrasts with career firefighters who are full-time firefighters, working organized

shifts, usually based in a centrally located firehouse. Some volunteer fire stations may operate as part

of a combination system, where paid firefighters also provide emergency services. In this way, a station

can be regularly staffed for rapid response with apparatus, and the volunteers provide supplementary

staffing and/or staffed apparatus before, during, and after an incident, or while the career staff are out

of service doing training.

The Logans are 100% volunteer.

To apply for membership, all that is needed is make contact with a member of the Logans, making a

phone call to our station or sending an email, requesting an application form.

We will get an application to you.

We, members of the Logan Fire Company No. 1, are like a family. We get to know each other, work

with each other, respect each other, and share the good and bad times with each other. As a family,

we will serve and protect the Bellefonte community and surrounding communities together.
